Liz & Brandon
Liz has actually been one of my close friends since college! Her and Brandon have been together since high school for about 10 years and are seriously the cutest couple. Since they have been together for so long, these two had their love radiating through the camera and I was seriously obsessed.
Summer Couples Session in Detroit
For their session, we headed to People for Palmer Park in Detroit, Michigan! We found this big open field with tons of tall grass and that's really all we needed for us to get started. Honestly, it's crazy that sometimes all you need is a good location and good lighting and you can make almost anything work! After, Brandon noticed this really large tree so naturally we ran over to take a few photos with it. At one point I had Liz and Brandon running through what looked similar to an apple orchard which I thought was pretty cool.
Rooftop Photos in Downtown Detroit
After we finished running around Palmer Park, we made our way to the second half of their session in Downtown Detroit! Once Liz and Brandon did a quick outfit change, we found ourselves on the top of the Z Parking Garage. Some of you may notice that I REALLY like to shoot at this location. You're able to have this big open space while also getting great city views, so I see it as a perfect spot for some photos. You may or may not be able to notice, but the weather on this day was phenomenal. The sun would peak in-between the clouds and it really made for the perfect natural lighting. If I'm being honest, we spent most of their session laughing and just having a good time considering Liz is one of my best friends. One of the best parts about sessions like these is being able to get creative and just have fun. While some couples have a certain style or vision for their sessions, I absolutely love when my couples also give me a bit of creative freedom as well. It's the perfect blend of being able to get some cute photos while still being able to have fun and be creative in front of the camera.
How to feel comfortable in front of the camera
If you ever find yourself having trouble getting comfortable in front of the camera, don't worry! The number one piece of advice that I can give you is to communicate with your photographer! Trust me, all we want is to make sure that you and your partner feel SUPER comfortable and act like yourselves during your session. Communication with your photographer is key, so let them know your fears/concerns and they can help you feel and look your best! We're here not only as your photographer, but as a resource as well!
Overall, the day was everything I imagined AND more! I loved being there for Liz and Brandon and being able to capture these sweet moments for them to cherish forever.
