Nick & Perry

So I actually shot Nick and Perry's engagement photos a little while back and blogged it! They had a gorgeous winter engagement at Hocking Hills State Park, so if you haven't gone and read that I definitely recommend you do! Just click here! We had been counting down the days to their wedding and when the day finally came, I just couldn't contain my excitement.

getting ready

We started off the day with Perry getting ready with her bridal party. As soon as I saw Perry, my jaw almost dropped - she was so beautiful. I didn't think it could get any better until I saw her get into her wedding dress and then I basically lost my breath. She was the most beautiful bride and at this moment I was just in awe.

Since Nick and Perry were getting ready at the same location, The Hyatt, it was just a short walk to meet up with him and his groomsmen. Perry and Nick have a son, Landon, together so he was also there getting prim & proper for the big day.

Perry decided to do two different first looks: one with her bridal party and the other with her soon-to-be husband, Nick. As the bridal party waited to turn around for the big reveal, I stood their in awe of how amazing each and every one of them looked. Their dresses/suits, although different, all complimented each other and was just so much fun to see something outside of the traditional matching attire. The reactions of course, were just as intimate and emotional as ever. They were Perry's own personal hype team, as they should be since it is her wedding day! After the big reveal, her bridesmaids helped Perry put on her two garters underneath her dress. Hey, you know how difficult it is to maneuver yourself in one of those? That was the final touch before heading downstairs to meet up with Nick.

Nick & Perry's first look was just as beautiful however. As soon as Nick turned around to see Perry you could see a light radiate off of him. And no, it wasn't because of the sun bouncing off of the windows - it was that happy glow, ya know?

We were in Downtown Ferndale, Michigan so we basically spent this part of the day walking around the town taking photos. We really wanted their portraits to look unique and authentic to them and be very casual & laid-back but still ethereal. We took some photos with some greenery before heading to the top of this parking garage. And if any of you are asking, no it was NOT the Z parking garage. The light was hitting this spot ever so perfectly, so I just knew I had to shoot here. It was almost as if it was meant to be... but I'll let the universe take credit on that one. Both Perry and Nick looked absolutely amazing and these photos are definitely some of my favorites that I took throughout the whole day.

We had a little bit of extra time before heading to the ceremony, so I decided to give Perry and Nick some time to themselves. They went down to a boba tea place not too far from where we were and had some intimate alone time before heading to their venue. If possible, I HIGHLY recommend having some time for just the two of you on your wedding day. The day can get crazy and move so fast, so slowing down and enjoying a few moments together goes a long way.

intimate farmers market wedding

For their ceremony, it was at The Rustbelt Market local to the area. This venue is filled with so much art & character and is essentially like your modern day vintage farmers market. You're able to rent out the middle stage for ceremonies, and that's exactly what Nick & Perry decided to do! Perry is a big fan of Taylor Swift, so she actually walked down the aisle to the song "Lover" and at this point I almost burst into tears. It was such a beautiful moment watching her walk down the aisle and I enjoyed every minute of it. I say that because, despite Nick and Perry giving me warning of their short ceremony, I didn't expect it to be 4 minutes long. Yes... you read that right! 4 minutes and the deed was done, the two were officially married.

the reception

The reception was just as much fun as you could imagine. It was filled with so much dancing and laughter. Nick and Perry did a "money dance", which is essentially when your wedding guests pay to dance with the bride and groom. This is such a fun tradition and I love seeing couples incorporate this in their wedding day. Perry even took me out onto the dance floor for a bit so I was apart of the #girlsquad for a little bit, which is always fun. If you didn't think this day couldn't get any better, "What Dream are Made Of" from the Lizzie McGuire movie came on and I just about lost it. It was the perfect way to end the night with all of us singing the lyrics together. I walked away from this day with the biggest smile on my face and I feel so honored to have been there to capture such memories.
