julia & ryan

I have been waiting FOREVER to blog this day and the day has finally come to tell the story of Julia and Ryan. A while back I actually blogged their engagement session, so if you want to take a read click here! These two had the most amazing and beautiful intimate summer backyard wedding and I can't wait for you to read all about it.

getting ready & first look

We of course spent the beginning of the day with Julia and Ryan both getting ready. This time is always so special because it's the moment where you're building all anticipation to finally walk down the aisle and say your "I do's". Julia looked absolutely stunning with her gorgeous dress while Ryan looked incredibly dapper as well! There was actually a point after Ryan finished getting ready where he was able to receive a special gift from Julia. Julia had decided to do a boudoir session and surprise Ryan with it, so despite him being a bit shy to open it - it DEFINITELY was a great surprise for him. P.s. This is your sign to book a bridal boudoir session, it can make for the perfect gift for your partner on your wedding day!

Once Julia and Ryan were done getting ready, they then decided to do a first look! Now if you've read my blogs (which if you haven't, what are you doing??), you may know that I absolutely RAVE about first looks. It's the perfect opportunity for some intimacy and alone time on your special day and I always love when my couples decide to do a first look. Of course Julia and Ryan's was much like any other and was so touching and beautiful to witness. I swear... I tear up every.single.time.

intimate summer backyard wedding

For the ceremony, Julia and Ryan opted to do something small and intimate. Actually their ceremony was in the backyard of Ryan's parents home which is beyond convenient, if I do say so myself. Despite seeing each other during their first look, Julia was still incredibly emotional walking down the aisle to see Ryan waiting there for her. This my friends is PROOF that even if you do a first look, tears still might shed - so be prepared! Once they said their vows and said their I do's, the two were officially newlyweds! There even is a moment where you see Ryan looking at his ring as he walks off with Julia and it kind of just solidifies that "oh my god" type moment of just getting married.

portraits

For their portraits Julia, Ryan and I ventured off to this gorgeous park that was nearby. Of course it was the middle of summer so the weather was blazing on this day, nonetheless we were able to get some amazing photos. Julia really enjoys greenery and nature, so being able to immerse ourselves in this environment for her wedding day was incredibly important to her. We even were able sneak off in the middle of the reception to this greenhouse that was about 30 seconds from their reception site! Although it was #mosquitocity, the greenhouse was absolutely BEAUTIFUL and fulfilled all of Julia's nature vibes that she wanted on her special day.

reception

The original plan for Julia and Ryan was to have an outdoor reception in the same backyard where they had their ceremony. However the night before, rain struck HARD in Michigan and the entire grassy area where the tent was placed was completely immersed in water. Frantically the night before, with the help of Julia's family, they all scrambled to find a last minute location for the reception. Luckily they were able to find a banquet hall not too far from them to officially save the day. Although this wasn't the original plan, we were able to make up for the lack of outdoor space with the beautiful portraits. So it was kind of a win-win, right?

Julia and Ryan had some AMAZING food and even had Hello! Ice Cream there as well! While the ceremony was filled with her close family & friends, the reception was a different story. Filled with all of their friends and family, the reception is where everyone came to have a ball - and trust me... THEY DID! Julia and Ryan were even able to do a quick outfit change before I headed out for the night. Overall, the day was a beautiful one and I am so honored to have been there for Julia + Ryan on their special day - congrats!!
