Kaylee & Frankie


When people say it's a small world, they really mean it's a small world. I've known Kaylee for about 15 years now, since she played sports with my little sister back in the day. Frankie on the other hand, actually played hockey with one of my past brides, Allison, who I've actually blogged before! You can check that out here! Unknowingly, I was seated with Kaylee and Frankie at Allison and Jess' wedding way back in the beginning of 2022 and now the two are getting married. Remember when I said it's a small world? Now, I had the honor of capturing their Hoops Sports Bar Engagement Photos in Auburn Hills, Michigan and it was the epitome of bad a**, epic and amazing.

Whenever I am taking engagement photos, I always ask my couples questions to get a better feel for who they are and what they like to do. This alone, makes for a more unique and special session than just your typical "taking photos with beautiful trees" type of look. Although, nothing wrong with that I knew that Kaylee and Frankie wanted something a bit more different. Way back when Kaylee and Frankie were dating, their first apartment was near Hoops Sports Bar in Auburn Hills, Michigan. This sports bar is somewhere that they frequented often and was a huge part of their love story. So naturally, being able to incorporate this important place for their Michigan engagement photos was a must.


We met up at Hoops Sports Bar where Kaylee and Frankie enjoyed some drinks, food and a good game of pool. It was reminiscent of the old times and made things a bit more grungy and casual, but still fun. The perfect blend of their personalities and really let their love story shine on through.

After finishing up at Hoops Sports Bar, we made our way to Downtown Pontiac, Michigan for the second part of their engagement session. Downtown Pontiac is actually where me and Joe got married, fun fact! It was at this point that I realized that I seriously have the coolest couples EVER. In this very obscure spot in Downtown Pontiac, Frankie and Kaylee pulled up in Frankie's motorcycle and I completely fell in love. These two were the definition of "cool" and their whole aesthetic was just the icing on top of the cake of these perfect Michigan engagement photos. While we dont often travel much into the Downtown Pontiac area, we were able to admire their love story through getting close up shots of their stunning rings and Frankie and Kaylee riding around together on Frankie's motorcycle. If you were ever wondering what is a great way to incorporate your personalities into an engagement session, this would be a prime example.

Tell Me About Your Proposal Story


Frankie proposed to me first. She took me mini golfing and to dinner first before taking me to a park where our friends had set up this beautiful layout on the dock. She also blindfolded me while we were in the car so I never knew where we were going and I couldn’t see the set up until everything was in place and she was waiting for me at the end of the dock. I proposed a little over a month later. Frankie had NO idea it was coming :) I took her to a glamping site in Boyne as a celebration before I started my new job. I had been coordinating with the owner to have everything set up for my plan. I had told Frankie that I brought everything except graham crackers and I needed her to run to the store and get some. When she came back I had a full s’mores picnic set up was waiting at the top of the hill for her.


What are you two looking forward to the most about this process?


Well we have several photos of us that are just us standing and trying to pose together and we both want to just have memories of us in the moment. We have some ideas that will be more of us doing what we love to do together and we’re hoping you can capture us in those elements. We are really looking forward to having those memories and moments on film that we can have to look back on for the rest of our lives.
