Engagement Session at the Michigan State Fair

Gabby and Ian are the type of couple that can make anything a good time. They both enjoy spending their time watching movies together and making the most of their time together. For engagement/couples sessions I am always trying to get my couples outside of the traditional scope of what engagement photos normally look like. I am a big believer in making your sessions your own and unique to your and your personalities, so for Gabby and Ian I wanted something that matched them PERFECTLY! For this session, Gabby and Ian really wanted something that matched their personality so what better than at a fair??

Engagement Session at the Michigan State Fair

Gabby has always wanted to go to a fair, so it worked out perfectly when it came time to plan their session. However, due to the pandemic the fair that she wanted to attend ended up being cancelled. Luckily for us, we were able to get re-route our plans to the Michigan State Fair! This ended up being the perfect solution and dare I say an even better outcome than we could have imagined. The sun on this day really came to show off and it was the most perfect weather for a session. We made our way over to the swings where we were able to get some amazing photos of these two flying through the air. 10/10 would DEFINITELY recommend. When in environments like this, as a photographer you really need to think on your feet and go with the flow, which honestly I love! Some of the best moments are the spontaneous and unplanned so being able to be creative with our environment made for some of my favorite photos.

Later that night, Gabby and Ian decided to do an outfit change which I always feel changes up the mood for your session (if you have time of course!). Since they both trusted my creative vision, which I appreciated, I really got to play around with different filters and even brought out my flash as it got darker. As the night came to an end, although sad that we had to part ways I was so excited to get home to edit these photos! Gabby and Ian actually decided to hang back and enjoy the fair to themselves for a bit - so it ended up being an engagement session + date night all rolled into one! Moral of the story: if you're looking for a sign to book that session that you have always wanted to - DO IT! Oh... and invite me of course ;)
