Danielle & Mike

If you remember a while back, I actually blogged Danielle and Mike’s engagement session at Grand Ledge in Fitzgerald Park here in Michigan! If you haven’t read that, I would highly recommend checking it out here! Much like their engagement session, Danielle and Mike’s wedding was just as amazing, special and beautiful.

Getting Ready at the Spring Meadows Country Club

Their wedding was at the Spring Meadows Country Club in Linden, Michigan. Mike actually used to work at the country club when he was younger, so it really ended up being a full circle moment. D+M ended up having their entire wedding day, from start to finish, here at the Spring Meadows Country Club which made for little commute times LOL. We spent the first part of the day with the bride & groom getting ready in the country club’s locker rooms. While not equipped with the best lighting in the world, as a photographer we have to think on the spot and make any location work which I think we really did.

The First Look

After finishing up getting ready, we then had to go into the first look. This was one of my first weddings that I had done at a golf course, so it was deemed to be quite a challenge to find the perfect spot for these two. After a bit of scouting we found this perfect location which just so happened to be in the middle of the golf course (don’t worry though, we got permission to be there ha!). Since it was mid-day we were so gracefully met with bright harsh lighting from the sun but as always, we roll with the punches and made it work. I know I say this all the time but first looks are seriously some of my favorite to shoot. It’s the moment that everyone has been waiting for and there was so much anticipation built that it’s the biggest relief to see the reactions of the soon to be newlyweds.

Since we were already outside, we decided now would be a good time for their portraits! We really got to play around with the different lighting, shadows and soak up all of the amazing greenery we were surrounded by. Danielle and Mike even were able to snag up a golf cart so it was only fitting to get a few photos of them there as well. Later in the day we were able to sneak D+M away to get some gorgeous golden hour photos. We had about 5 minutes before the sun was about to set, we had to move quickly but OH MY did these turn out better than I could have imagined.

Ceremony & Reception

Once we were done with portraits, time was ticking and the ceremony was about to begin! We made our way to their ceremony location where we were greeted with all of their friends & family. Danielle and Mike had this gorgeous birch tree that they decorated as their main centerpiece during their ceremony, which I thought was just a beautiful touch.

Once the ceremony was over, we moved right into the reception. Let me tell you though, these wedding guests know how to dance and party. Mike and his side of the family are Syrian, so they really wanted to incorporate a lot of his cultural dances throughout the night, such as a dabke dance and then there was a moment when the guests lifted both Danielle and Mike in the air while they were sitting on chairs and it was so. much. fun! Everyone ended up joining in on the dance floor and having a blast. This is also to remind you that you can make your wedding day whatever you want it to be. Don’t be afraid to step outside of the box and do something that is special or unique to you and your family. (Oh! and I cannot forget to tell you that Mike's mom made HOMEADE baklava for all the guests at the wedding, and it was so stinkin delicious). This could be special dances or traditions, a different type of ceremony, etc. Your wedding day is about YOU!
