Brooke & Hunter

As a photographer you get to meet SOO many different people. Of course, my own siblings let people know if they are ever in need of a photographer so #shamelessplug. Brooke reached out to me via instagram. She actually found out about me through my brother's girlfriend at Rochester University, where they both play basketball. From there Brooke had reached out and inquired about taking her and her fiance, Hunter, engagement photos and of course my answer was yes.

While many people may think that you need to go somewhere super fancy for your engagement session, that is entirely not true. For Brooke and Hunter’s engagement session, we actually went to my hometown in Downtown Clarkston, Michigan. Although they aren’t from there, Brooke and Hunter have been there a handful of times. So this ended up being a nice little adventure for them and of course I loved being back where I grew up.

We basically spent our time walking around Downtown Clarkston and soaking up all of that beautiful sun. Although the lighting was pretty harsh, we didn’t let that stop us. I am always up for a challenge so there were points where I did use a cracked filter over my camera lens. It gave this really cool sun flare effect when the sun was peeking through the clouds which I just LOVED. Highly recommend trying out different filters and playing around with lighting during your sessions because 9/10 times you won’t regret it. We took a few photos in front of a pretty well known BBQ restaurant in Clarkston called The Union Woodshop. To see more of the indoor decor of Union Woodshop, check out Hailey & Jacob’s blog here!

The Downtown Clarkston area has so many cute restaurants that are just PHENOMENAL. This engagement session was in the middle of February, so while most of the holiday decor had been taken down there was a little bit of remnants left over. I instantly pulled Brooke and Hunter over to get a few photos in front of the remaining holiday decor because… well, because why not! We then went into this amazing Mexican Restaurant, Honcho, where Brooke used to work along with my sister. Cue It’s a Small World After All - lol. The sun was peeping through the windows so beautifully and it was picture perfect.

At the end of their engagement photos, Brooke and Hunter were so happy working with me that they actually had asked me to photograph their wedding! I truly was so honored and am so excited to be capturing such amazing memories for them and I can't wait for you guys to see the beauty we create on their wedding day!
